Black Goat Farm and Sanctuary

I would like to introduce you to a wonderful place.

A place where positive energy flows. A place where animals of all kinds can live a happy, loving, and free life. There should be more of these places in this cruel world. This is Black Goat Farm Animal Sanctuary, just outside Hamilton. At this farm you will goats, ducks, pigs, cows, sheep, chickens, ducks, and a turkey. These animals have been rescued from awful situations and brought to a safe haven. These are the lucky ones.

Meet Calvin and Zoey. These two weren't going to see another day. But they got lucky. They now get to grow up and run free. And I mean literally run .. they act like puppies and it is the sweetest thing! Cows are so smart and loving. They love to play and enjoy snuggling. I am so happy that these two got to escape the industry and just be.

But honestly - how cute?!?!

Playing with a baby cow was such an amazing experience! They are a lot less intimidating when they are small, that's for sure. All they wanted to do was eat. But I did get a few kisses and I definitely for some great pictures. What a fantastic day!

This is Luna. Luna is a sweet and gentle cow who was abused and uncared for. She is 12 years old and upon coming to Black Goat Farm, she experienced grass and for the first time ever. She was kept indoors all her life as a dairy cow, never having the opportunity to meet one of her babies. She was about to be shipped to slaughter, but would have been more expensive since she is blind and has to be shipped alone. She is now safe, and able to live out the rest of her life in peace. With Calvin and Zoey there, she is able to care for them like a mother is supposed to. All her life, she has never met any of her babies, and now she gets to take care of two. Black Goat Farm is currently working on building a separate pasture for Luna and the two babies.

Next up, I want to introduce you to Sean. He is an adorable and loving Turkey who now gets to live out his life happily and freely. He loves cuddles and is just a pretty chill Turkey. It's crazy to think that we as humans consume these creatures. After seeing Sean in person, I don't know how they could be eaten.

Now let me introduce you to sweet Josie. Josie and 1 of 3 babies Millie were rescued from an auction. Josie was ill and abused from the goat dairy industry and needed a little TLC. Josie now lives on the farm with Millie and so many other goats. She has a bit of an attitude, but who wouldn't after what she has gone through? It was a pleasure meeting her and getting to photograph her beautiful face!

There are so many wonderful animals to love and cuddle! These animals deserve all the love and happiness. They deserve to live a happy life, just like we all have the opportunity to do. These are loving, caring, sentient beings. I can't imagine what it is like to be born into captivity and live a life of darkness. With many of these animals never seeing the light before coming here, it's like a whole new world. I've never seen so much love in one place.

I highly suggest visiting Black Goat Farm and Sanctuary. You will love every minute of being here and I promise it may just inspire you to make a positive change in your life! It's such a fun time, you won't regret it!
